BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – ALERT security officers last night (Dec. 17) foiled an intended robbery  at the Carib Brewery, St. Kitts-Nevis Limited Complex in Buckley’s.

Information reaching SKNVibes indicate that two armed, masked men had entered the building with intent to rob, but the alert security officers quickly informed their superiors at the agency’s headquarters, who notified the police at the Basseterre Police Station of the situation.

According to Police Press and Public Relations Officer (PRO) Inspector Vaughan Henderson, police received the report at about 8:00 p.m. and they responded immediately.

“On Friday, December 17, 2010 at approximately 8:00, police received a report of an attempted robbery at the Carib Brewery area and members of the Anti-Gang Unit, the Special Services Unit and the Criminal Investigations Department responded immediately.

“On arrival, officers spoke to a number of security guards and employees of Carib Brewery, who informed them that armed, masked persons had gained entrance into the building and assaulted them with intent to rob,” Henderson said.

He also said that the masked persons had fled the building and no suspect has so far been held responsible.

The PRO further said, The Police High Command and management of Carib Brewery are currently engaging in a number of meetings, at the end of which they will arrive at a security arrangement that would be in place during and after the Christmas and Carnival season.”

Investigations into this matter, he added, are ongoing.
