Tonito Willet led the way with four emphatic strikes as current champions, Slybo Stoney Grove Strikers, completed a demolition job on the Combined schoolboys, trouncing them 11 goals to nil! The action was held at the ETW Park on the evening of Saturday 18th December in the Legend’s cup series.
Delvon Clarke joined the goal feast with three strikes of his own while Junie Williams and Errol ‘Marley’ Newton both scored two goals each.
The Combined school boys did not have a whisper of a response.
Final score: SSG Strikers 11 goals to Combined schools nil.
This helped the SSG Strikers to force their way into the finals of the Legend‘s cup.
In the second game of the evening SL Horsfords Highlights easily disposed of Villa Int six goals to nil.
For the Highlights team, Jean Jacques scored four goals; Warner 1 and Tobias 1.
On Sunday night, in the lone game played, SL Horsfords Highlights found themselves in a situation where they had to defeat Caribbean Cable Bath United outright in order to qualify for the finals. The Bath men on the other hand just had to hold out for a draw.
Delroy ‘Ras Iroy’ Pinney was ominously cool and smiling even after the first half off the match did not result in a goal for either team.
He must have been more than a little worried however when Val Hendrickson struck the back of the net for the Bath men.
Rovan Wigley then responded with two super goals of his own and Kervin France added another for double emphasis.
It means therefore that SL Horsfords Highlights will engage SSG Strikers on Thursday 23rd December to determine Legends cup champions for 2010.
