BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – SEVERAL employees and customers of a local eating house were traumatised today (Dec. 20) after an armed bandit entered the establishment and demanded money from them.

Information reaching SKNVibes indicates that at around 2:30 p.m., a man entered the Kittitian Roti and Snackette in St. Johnson’s Village with a gun and asked the employees where they kept the money.

Gail Herbert, an employee, said she and a co-worker were in the kitchen while two customers were waiting to be served, when she heard a man asking them for money.

She stated that her co-worker, who was standing directly in front of her, pointed to the cash register and the bandit, who was wearing what appeared to be a Halloween mask, picked it up and fired a shot into the food display cabinet before leaving the establishment.

Herbert added that when she came out of the kitchen she saw t the customers were lying on the floor.

SKNVibes spoke with a number of persons in the vicinity of the snackette, who said they were alarmed after hearing the sound of gunfire.

“We came outside and saw a dog running in the cemetery, and then we saw a man wearing a mask running across the road with the cash machine in his hand,” one of them said.

The Kittitian Roti and Snackette is owned by Stephanie Gillard, who has been conducting business at that location for some three years.

Gillard said she was not at the snackette at the time of the robbery and was unaware of the amount of cash stolen.

Police informed this media house that investigations are ongoing.
