BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – EIGHT contestants from secondary schools in the Federation will be competing for the Miss Contec Talented Teen title at the Sugar Mill commencing at 8:00 p.m. on Monday, December 27, 2010.

The eight beautiful and intelligent students are Miss Cayon High School – Chadene Connor, Miss Saddlers Secondary School – Dominique Pemberton, Miss Gingerland Secondary School – Hydela Tyson, Miss Charles E. Mills Secondary School – Vernecia Wyatt, Miss Basseterre High School – Brianda Harvey, Miss Washington Archibald High School – Nekirah Nichollos, Miss Verchilds High School – Zaeisha Joseph, and Miss Immaculate Conception Catholic School – Siobhan Phipps.

The contestants will compete in the opening number and then judged in the Ambassadorial Speech, which would be done in their Ambassadorial Wear; a newly-added segment, according to head of the Pageant’s Sub-Committee Nichole Gumbs.

That segment will be followed by the Talent, Evening Wear and Interview segments to complete the show.

Meanwhile, the contestants will be joined by 12 junior calypsonians, who will compete for a crown in the other half of the show.

This will be the first time that the Gingerland Secondary School will compete in this pageant.

Zinga Imo, who last year represented the St. Theresa’s Covent High School before the name was changed to the Immaculate Conception Catholic School, currently holds the Miss Talented Teen title. She gave an impressive performance and walked away with the awards for all of the judged segments.

Karessa Willett, who sings under the name ‘Mz Independence’, is the reigning Junior Calypso Queen. She has won the annual competition on two consecutive occasions.
