BASSETERRE St.Kitts - It gives me pleasure to be able to wish the people of St. Kitts and Nevis at home and in the Diaspora a very Merry Christmas and an enjoyable carnival. I am particularly pleased to extend seasonal wishes to the people of Constituency #8 from Cayon, Keys, Conaree, St. Peters and their environs.
I cannot let any opportunity pass to express my gratitude to the people who have reposed their trust in me and to ensure them that I will always work hard to ensure that I am worthy of that trust.
This year began with a bittersweet experience for many of us with the general election and ended up being one of the more difficult economic experiences for many families. Many lost their jobs this year and are facing this festive season with apprehension. Many, although we are thankful that it is fewer than last year, lost family members and friends to senseless violence. All of us are still waiting for the economy to work.
Now as we approach the season of giving we are concerned about what the future will bring as we think about the raising of electricity rates and the continued weakness of the economy. Yet none among us can allow these worries to steal our joy during this Christmas season.
I wish that the peace and goodwill that the Christ child was born to give us will visit this Federation and grant us the blessing of a tranquil holiday celebration. I also extend best wishes for a safe Carnival that is free from fear and violence.
