BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – TWO separate early morning traffic accidents on the Island Main Road sent one man at the JNF Hospital for treatment and caused extensive damage to four vehicles and a broken fence.
The first one, involving a blue Suzuki Grand Vitara (P5569), occurred at approximately 7:00 this morning (Dec. 26) at the Roundabout of the West Basseterre Bypass Road on the Island Main Road in Camps Village.
On arrival at the scene, SKNVibes learnt that the vehicle was travelling south along the Bypass Road and was approaching the Roundabout to go in a westerly direction. On negotiating the turn, the vehicle ran off the road unto a pile of rocks on the seaward side, catapulted into a chain-link fence, uprooted a tamarind tree and landed on its right side.
This media house was informed that the driver suffered minor injuries and was transported to the JNF Hospital. The front and right side of the vehicle were extensively damaged.
The second accident occurred at about 8:45 on the Island Main Road in the vicinity of TC’s carpentry Shop in Half Way Tree.
The vehicle, a white Delta Pickup truck (P7698), is owned by Vallie’s Tent Rental Services and was driven by Elcardo Jacobs of Taylors Housing.
SKNVibes learned that the vehicle was travelling west along the Island Main Road, destined for Beaumont Park, when the driver pulled to his left in order to avoid a collision with a truck that was travelling in the opposite direction.
This manoeuvre however caused the loaded pickup to topple and rest on its left side and damaging two parked cars in the process. No one was injured but the pickup and one of the parked cars were extensively damaged.
Both accidents are under police investigation.
