Dr. Harris brings inspiring message of God’s love and healing to Mary Charles Hospital

Dr. the Hon. Timothy Harris
Press Release

Dr. the Hon. Timothy Harris, Member of Parliament for St. Christopher #7 and Senior Minister of Government delivered an inspiring address to patients and invitees at the annual Christmas Party for the Mary Charles Hospital held on Tuesday 21st December 2010.

Dr. Harris thanked the medical staff and auxiliary employees for their contribution to health delivery in the Federation. He said the hospital is an important first response for persons between Parson’s Village and Canada, who fall ill and are in need of secondary medical care. The facility over the years has expanded the range of services to provide dispensary services and dental care. Dr the Hon Timothy Harris, applauded the vision of past administrators that saw the construction of a hospital in Molyneux and pledged to do all to ensure the hospital is of even greater value and service to the areas it serves.

Dr. Harris said that “the main purpose of Christmas is to celebrate the coming into this world, over 2000 years ago, of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Saviour. The beauty of the celebration is that although it was over 2000 years ago, Immanuel is still with us”.

The 5th term Member of Parliament encouraged the audience to remember the central reason of the season, is the hope of salvation which Jesus Christ brings. Christ offers us, the hope of salvation, the hope of peace, the hope of joy and the hope of healing. Yes healing – your healing and restoration”

Referring to the book of Matthew chapter 8, Dr. the Hon. Timothy Harris said it was filled with evidence of God’s love, power and mercy. Here you find him healing the leper, freeing the demon possessed, relieving fever, casting out demons and bearing our infirmities. This is an all powerful God and we are commanded in the book of James chapter 5 verses 13 to 16 to seek him through prayer.

Minister Harris said, “My message to you at Christmas is that although you are ill or otherwise imperfect you must seek to draw closer to God. To do so, you must love him with all thy heart, all thy mind, this is the first and principal law”.

Prime Minister Dr. Denzil Douglas and Health Minister Marcella Liburd also addressed the gathering which included senior administrators from the health sector, and several invitees and well wishers of the Mary Charles Hospital.
