Bath Village teen charged with gun, ammo possession

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – JUST hours after the discovery of two firearms at the back of Excellent Fast Food in Charlestown, police returned to the Chinese restaurant and found another one.

Reports reaching SKNVibes, which was confirmed by the police, state that on Christmas Day (Dec. 25), officers of the Nevis Division of the Federation’s Police Force had found a 9mm pistol with five matching rounds of ammunition at the rear of the Chinese restaurant.

The reports further state that because of poor visibility when they had found the two firearms, officers returned during daylight and located the other one some distance away from where the others were hidden.

A senior officer told this media house that six of the seven individuals, who were in custody assisting police with their investigations into the two weapons find, were released today (Dec. 28) from the Charlestown Police Station.

However, the seventh one, 18-year-old Vernon Parris of Bath Village, is still in custody and was charged with possession of a firearm and possession of ammunition.

Sometime after mid-night on Friday (Dec. 24), officers on a routine patrol found a .38 pistol with four rounds of matching ammunition and a .22 pistol with one round of matching ammunition at the rear of Excellent Fast Food in downtown Charlestown, where the seven men were congregated.

This find brings to 45 the total number of illegal firearms removed from the streets of the Federation by the police for the year; 11 on Nevis and 34 on St. Kitts.
