BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – ALL of the shows for the 2010 National Carnival, dubbed Sugar Mas, have been completed and there eight individuals were declared winners.

The first show, Female Calypso Bacchanal, was held at the Sugar Mill in Warner Park on December 17 and saw Queen Anastasia taking the crown for the fourth time in her career as a senior calypsonian.

The Best of the Rest Competition was also held at the same venue and on the same night, and Lala was crowned the new King with his popular ‘Puppy A Tun Dog’ song.

The following day saw Konris Maynard adding yet another crown to his trophy case, as he was declared the new Soca Monarch after that competition had a two year hiatus.

Last Monday (Dec. 27) Siobhan Phipps of the Immaculate Conception Catholic School took the Talented Teen title while Calypso Leo was crowned Junior Calypso King that same evening.

Of the sensational six who competed on December 28, Iantavian Queeley was adjudged winner of the National Carnival Queen Pageant, adding the biggest title of the Sugar Mas shows under her belt.

After winning the crown in 2001 and 2002, King Pungwa came in the calypso arena with a bang this year and dethroned Socrates for the LIME Senior Calypso Monarch title, singing ‘Hang Dem High’ and ‘Take De Old Clothes Off’.

The final show, Haynes Smith Caribbean Talented Teen Pageant, was held on Thursday night (Dec. 30) and saw Nandy Noel, who represented Grenada, taking home the crown from a field of 11 contestants.

Sugar Mass continues today with the Grand Parade and the curtains will come down on the 2010/2011 event with Las Lap on Monday (Jan. 3).
