Basseterre - The St Kitts Marriott Resort is proud to partner with the Clarence Fitzroy Bryant College in assisting its hospitality students with the practical elements of their studies in pursuance of an Associates Degree in Hospitality.
A total of six students spent six weeks at the resort starting March 25th until May 5th.
Their tenure encompassed practical experience in the areas of Banquets/Catering, Restaurant/Bar operations, Culinary as well as all aspects of Rooms Operations.
"It was great to see the enthusiasm displayed by the students for this practical experience. The CFBC did a great job in preparing them for their time here at St Kitts Marriott Resort, and we look forward to future collaborations as we strive to enhance hospitality here in St Kitts and Nevis", says Fabian Bornefeld, Training Manager & student mentor at the resort.
The resort's Human Resources Department under Kathy Kaesmacher (DHR) and Ms Marsha Bassue (Director of Hospitality & Culinary Arts) are already working on the implementation of a 1-year Internship program which would be offered to some of the best performing students of the Hospitality Courses.
The partnership started in November of 2005 when students of the Clarence Fitzroy College were given "Basic Hospitality Training" which was an 8-hour all day training event. The students were taken through a series of short sessions beginning with an introduction to The Marriott Corporation and The St Kitts Marriott Resort & Royal Beach Casino, Customer Service and Teamwork. The day also included a hands-on training in the Banquets and Catering Department.
