BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE year 2010 has just ended and throughout those 52 weeks the nation had witnessed many eventful episodes in the history of the twin-island Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis.

Those episodes range from politics to entertainment. Politics, on the basis of economic challenges and fiscal measures; entertainment, premised on the fact that even though one political austerity was implemented in November and a few more announced for this year, many Kittitians still found time to party.

From this backdrop, SKNVibes, the media house that is known to be present at most, if not all, of the high-rated parties in St. Kitts, has decided to publish a list of its Top 10 Most Memorable Parties of 2010 in St. Kitts.

    10. C-Money’s Fans Appreciation Party – This event was held at De Lantern, which is one of the hottest party spots in Sandy Point. And together with one of SK’s sweetest rising stars, C-Money, the event produced an atmosphere of non-stop fun.

    09. Smiley Birthday Bash - It was no surprise that the lead singer of the former holders of the Road March title, the Grand Masters Band, would have had a massive turnout at his party which was held at The Pub in October. Many attendees said it was one of the largest turnouts The Pub had ever seen.

    08. Sugar Bowl Birthday Bash - Running strong for eight years, the Sugar Bowl Birthday Bash was one of those parties an individual makes a note of when planning his/her yearly must-attend-parties. Last November a ‘staggering’ amount of people turned out to celebrate with the popular radio personality.

    07. Heatstroke – Many people have said that “Ain’t no party like a Link-A-Link party.” This saying holds true, for in 2010 Link-A-Link Entertainment had made a name for themselves on the party scene. One of their most memorable parties was one held at the Rockies on the Bird Rock Beach, where patrons were seen diving into the blue waters of the Caribbean Sea as the sun was rising.

    06. Infamus Birthday Bash – Infamus, who has risen to be one of the top artistes in the Federation, held his first ever Birthday Bash at Ma Pau in February. On that night, he also launched his third music video ‘Gonna Make it’, which went so well with his fans that they left the party singing, “I wanna know what it feels like, in this life to live a rich life..”. The venue was filled to capacity within the early hours of its start, which had caused many people to be denied entrance to the event.

    05. Sweet Sister Sensia Birthday Bash - The loveable sweet and entertaining radio hostess and DJ has a growing fan base, and what better way to celebrate with her fans than to throw a major party featuring one of the top bands in the Federation, the Nu Vybes International. The party went down into the wee hours of the morning with a surprise performance by Infamus, great DJ selections and tasty free food for all in attendance.

    04. Inception-A Dream Affair - It was the first time St. Kitts had been introduced to an all-inclusive event of its kind. The chosen venue was the historic Fort Thomas Hotel, which seemingly had some magic left from previously housing the St. Kitts Music Festival for over 10 years and had patrons partying ‘til broad daylight. Inception had provided patrons with music from the Federation’s top bands and DJs as well as regional acts. Free drinks were also provided all night, and this was topped off with free breakfast.

    03. Mr. Mention Birthday Bash - Yet another successful party was held back-to-back by Mr. Mention, lead singer of the Nu Vybes Band. Most of the band’s success can be attributed to their Rastafarian lead singer, and his parties never drop short of drawing large crowds. This particular party was held in April at which the band released new singles that were first heard at their second home, St. Thomas, and was pleasing to their 100 percent Sugar Band fans.

    02. Big Drew Halloween Bash - Not bad for a young man who also turned 21 a month later. Big Drew held his third annual Halloween Birthday Bash at the TDC Grounds, and although it rained for most of the night people still turned out in their numbers. One of the best things about the party is that the majority of attendees rocked costumes that added to the success of the event.

    01. Altonia Birthday Bash - Whether it was clever marketing or attractive acts, Ali’s 21 Diamonds and Pearls was what Kittitians like to say, “Sell off”. The event featured a fashion segment, performances by local acts including C-Money and Nicha B, band performances by Grand Masters, Small Axe and Kollision, while free food was served all night. The party was held at the TDC Grounds, which is fast becoming a popular hotspot for parties and was large enough to accommodate the massive crowd that attended.
