Colorful and vibrant parade brings Montserrat’s ArrowFest 2010 to a close

St Augustine School won best Children’s Troupe

    BRADES, Montserrat (January 5, 2011) – Hundreds lined the streets of Montserrat on New Year’s Day to experience the grand parade and the final events for ArrowFest 2010.

     


    The music from the Black Rhythms Band featuring calypsonians Maxine and Jack Sprat was infectious. Visiting Villa and Point Iron Band from Antigua built up a following along the route from the Government Headquarters in Brades to the Festival Hotspot in Little Bay.

     


    Rotaract Invazion won Best Overall troupe, Most Creative and King of the Band.

     


    The participant troupers were Rotaract Invazion, St. Augustine Primary School, Lookout Primary School, Bijouz Original’s Kaleidoscope, Caribbean Kaleidoscope, Santa and Santa’s Girlz and D Kandi Shoppe.

     


    The St Augustine Primary School was judged Best Troupe for the children’s section.  The school also won the prizes for Prince and Princess of the Band. Bijoux Original’s Kaleidoscope received the prizes for Queen of the Band and most colourful troupe.

     


    The Prize for the best individual costume went to Rags and Riches, followed by Sticky Lava and Revelers in second and third place respectively.

     


    The Hot Squad Majorettes were judged Best Dance Group with the Real McCoy Majorettes coming in second.

     


    The winners of the Calypso Monarch competition and Miss Festival Queen Pageant also received their prizes.
