Basseterre (July 7 2005) - Marriott's belief is that our associates are our greatest assets. People first has been the foundation of Marriott's success for over 75 years,  together with a strong corporate culture and inspiring core values are keys to it's continued success. Every year there is a full week of activities planned worldwide in appreciation of all associates.

In keeping with this the St Kitts Marriott Resort recently said "Thank You" to all its associates by planning their own of week celebratory activities.
Monday - Associate Choice Awards - Associates had the opportunity to vote for their favorite-managers, supervisors and their fellow associates who they felt had made a major contribution to the hotel. Some of the categories included Best Smile, Most Dedicated, Funniest All Around Associate, Most Helpful, Best Personal Appearance, Most Approachable Supervisor and Manager.

Winners included: Quammie Charles, Vanroy Richardson, Greta Collins, Ashworth Phillip, Dahlia Lewis, Avernelle Rogers and Fabian Bornefeld.
Tuesday- Cultural Heritage Day - In an effort for all associates to gain better understanding of our diverse cultures, the cafeteria displayed many different cultures in food and decoration represented within the body of our Hotel's Team. Some of the countries included in the demonstration were Guatemala, Holland, Jamaica, Guyana, Peru, and of course Sweet Sugar City St Kitts.

Wednesday- Cross Training - This provided an intimate view for clearer understanding of the daily operations of other departments. Some of the most popular departments were At Your Service, Front Desk and the Emerald Mist Spa.
Thursday - Hotel Olympics - Department teams competed with each another in a series of hotel sports. Routine daily activities were condensed and transformed into friendly, fun filled activities. These activities included setting tables, bed making and racing with serving trays. The Engineering Department was crowned winner at the end of these activities with Banquets taking up the 2nd place spot and Human Resources taking 3rd.

Friday -"Marriott Idol" Talent Show - The 16,000 square foot Grand Pavilion which seats up to 1000 was the venue of choice for this associate talent explosion. This large tented area located near the Golf Pro Shop was the perfect setting for this event which included a stage, yet was still able to accommodate a head table for our very own versions of "Simon, Paula and Randy" as judges. This night's top winner was Samantha Rochester (of the Golf Department) whose singing talent brought the house down. One of the night's favorite performers was the resorts General Manager Mr. George Landa who showed the audience that he can still "bend down low" as he bent low under the limbo stick.

Saturday- Spirit to Serve Day Associates volunteered and assisted in a clean up and repair activity at the Irishtown Primary School. Marriott International is very proud to be a part of the thousands of individual communities around the world where our Hotels & Resorts are located. We feel we have a special responsibility and role to play in helping our individual communities thrive, and we want every Marriott community to be a better place to live and work because we are a part of it.
Sunday Associate Church Service Over 250 associates came together for worship and participated through song, scripture reading and dance.

Throughout the entire week the associate cafeteria was decorated with a different theme daily, complete with menus that complemented that specific theme.  Lunch was served by Managers throughout the week, and all associates were presented with a token of sincere gratitude and appreciation for their continued hard work.
"Associate Appreciation Week gave us an opportunity to say a Special and Personal Thank You to our associates for all their hard work and dedication throughout the year. We are grateful that they have selected the St Kitts Marriott Resort to make their second home and look forward to their continued support", said Kathy Kaesmacher Director of Human Resources.

~~Adz:Right~~The Management Team wishes to send a warm Thank You to each and every one of our associates for their support and tireless efforts in making this resort successful day after day.
