DIEPPE BAY, ST.KITTS, Jan. 10, 2011/Beaumont Park/ -- Which lightning-fast Thoroughbred race horse will be named Beaumont Park’s “Horse of the Year”? Will it be Anansi, Atabaas Pride, Bad Action, E Z Smile, Rollofthunder or Tizbig?
This Sunday, January 16th and again on Sunday, January 30th, Beaumont Park Limited will give you the chance to vote for your favourite horse – the one you’ve been cheering and wagering on throughout 2010 – to win the prestigious Horse of the Year Award.
All you have to do is come on out to Beaumont Park this Sunday and cast your ballot on the reverse side of the Official Racing Programme. In order for your vote to count, you must write your name, mailing address and/or e-mail address, along with the name of your favourite horse, then put the completed form in one of the centrally located ballot boxes at Beaumont Park.
The audience choice for “Horse of the Year” will comprise one-third of the vote, with another one-third of the vote to be decided by two representatives of Beaumont Park Limited – General Manager, Richard Cummings and Director of Racing, Gary Smith – and the remaining one-third to be decided by two internationally renowned, independent Thoroughbred racing professionals – Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, James M. Casey and Vice President (Track & Field) of Equibase Company LLC, Charles Scaravilli.
By month’s end, avid racing fans will find out whether Anansi, Atabaas Pride, Bad Action, E Z Smile, Rollofthunder or Tizbig has taken the coveted title of “Horse of the Year”. The Horse of the Year Selection Committee has nominated these six Thoroughbreds to vie for the Beaumont Park Limited Horse of the Year Award. This award is presented annually to a horse that has raced at Beaumont Park, for outstanding achievement based upon performance and level of competition.
Racing fans will also find out who won the other prestigious awards for “Champion Jockey”, “Champion Trainer” and “Champion Owner” in the 2010 Beaumont Park Awards. The results already have been determined for all Beaumont Park Award Categories except “Horse of the Year”, which the fans will cast their vote for this Sunday, January 16th and again on Sunday, January 30th.
Beaumont Park will provide free admission to everyone at both horse racing events.
Horse racing starts at 2:30 PM, with gates opening at 12:30 PM.
Win, Place, Show and Exacta wagering will be held for all races.
