Lea Parris Cambridge is a new mom

Press Pelease

Slough, United Kingdom, January 9,2011 - Lea Parris Cambridge, a household name in the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis, is a new mom following the birth of baby Lily-Dahnai, who was born on Tuesday 14th December 2010 at 11:11 a.m weighing 5lbs 2 oz after a 13 hour labour and emergency caesarean.

Lea said in an interview that her child’s name was chosen according to the circumstances surrounding her conception and birth.

She said, Lily is the flower in the  Pink Lily Cancer Care  Logo- the charity born out her own experience with breast cancer. She said the flower represents  Comfort, Strength and Hope.  She said Dahnai means "Well" from the Ethiopian name Dahnay.

“ The name for my daughter Lily Dahnai will be a constant reminder of my experience and complete faith in God, the comfort, strength and hope that I felt and that all would be Well,” she said in an email interview.

“Against the odds and through all the treatment, I had complete faith that God would give me the strength and courage to endure whatever was to come and it gave me hope to continue my life in the most positive and fulfilling way,” she said.
During my treatment  I prayed God would protect my womb and reproductive organs, as I really wanted a baby and I prayed that I would meet a man, who would become my husband and father of my child.

She  had faith in the medical team who advised and educated her and performed her surgery and determined the treatment needed to save her life.  She put her complete trust in God and believed he would deliver her and her my mother at a time of uncertainty.

“The doctors said that I may never have any more children because of the invasive chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatment. Also  I needed to be on further medication for 5 years which meant that I would be about 44 years by the time the treatment would be finished.

For me, I felt that would be too late in life for me to have another baby, as I would be about 45 when it would be born. “

“So I asked the doctors if it was possible to take me off the medication in order to try for a baby and resume once the baby was born,  so after further consultation they agreed. Sadly I miscarried the first baby in November 2009 but tried again and now I am so happy to have my daughter in December 2010.  I will return to my doctors to discuss restarting my medication once I have finished breast feeding”, she said.

Lea said she and her husband are extremely happy and love their little girl
“to bits”.  She said their families are happy with a new addition to the family.  Lily-Dahnai is the  first grand daughter to her husband’s parents and a long awaited sibling for Lea’s 20 year old son Ethan.

Lea,  founded Pink Lily after her and her mother’s own personal experiences with breast cancer. Pink Lily was founded and launched in Nevis, West Indies on February  9th 2008.
