BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - A man was this evening (Jan. 11) rushed to the JNF Hospital for treatment after he was reportedly shocked while working on the building that houses Polo Company at the junction of Fort and Central Streets.
On arrival at the scene shortly after the incident occurred, SKNVibes found a crowd had already gathered with many persons expressing relief that the man’s condition was not worse.
An eyewitness told this media house that while walking down Fort Street with a friend and child, she heard loud sounds similar to those of gunfire.
The woman said she thought someone had gotten shot but on approaching Central Street “I saw a man coming down a ladder at Polo Company and I realised that he must have been shocked after seeing the smoke and sparks coming from the electric wires on the building”.
She noted that soon after the man came off the ladder he complained of being unable to see and was taken to the hospital.
This media house was unable to ascertain the extent of the man’s injuries or a comment as to whether he was okay. However, according to some bystanders, the man might have received injuries to his eyes and head, while one man pointed out that his life was saved because of the protective hand gear he was wearing.
“It’s a lucky thing that he had on the gloves that he had. If not, I think that he would have been dead today,” a woman said.
