CHARLESTOWN Nevis, January 12 2011 - Judging from the numerous phone calls and general queries made last night, the cricket loving public in Nevis is not pleased with the fact that ESPN channel four has not brought live, match two of the ongoing WICB T-20 series so far.
On the opening evening of the tournament, ESPN brought game one played between the Windwards and CCC but failed to bring the keenly anticipated match up between Jamaica and Guyana—even though it resulted in something of an anticlimax.
Last evening, day two of the tournament, the TV channel brought the first game between Canada and Hampshire but committed the unpardonable sin when they refused to show the second game between the Leewards and Barbados. This sparked off a series of phone calls as cricket enthusiasts tried to determine why the game was not being shown live.
It has been revealed that the local Caribbean Cable team has already ensured that the games will be available on channel four but apparently has no control over which games are brought live.
Sports lovers on Nevis are calling for the situation to be immediately rectified as they would love to see all of the matches but are afraid that they may miss out on the crucial contest between Trinidad and Tobago, slated for tomorrow Thursday evening—significantly the second game of the evening.
This match takes on added importance as Nevisian Runako Morton will be making his debut for Trinidad and Tobago against his former team mates.
