BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - IN an effort to restructure and to make the online media house more effective and viable, SKNVibes has appointed Troy Mills as its first General Manager.
Mills joins the SKNVibes family with the view of raising the company’s current standard and to assisting in its advancement and further development.
Chief Operations Officer (COO) Cliff Richards declared that the need to have a general manager became obvious because the company is on an expansion project. He said that for the past six months a search was undertaken to find a suitable candidate to manage the daily affairs of the company.
“We have been reviewing and examining possible candidates over the past six months, with the view of finding someone who will be tasked with the day-to-day managing of the company. As such, we are happy that we have success in our find,” Richards said.
He noted that an extensive search and evaluation were undertaken and a number of people were shortlisted for examination.
“We just did not pull Mr. Mills’ name out of a hat as some people may want to think but, rather, after careful and extensive evaluation he emerged as the candidate who we felt was going to take the company into the direction that we intend to go.”
The COO added that he is happy to welcome Mills onboard, pointing out that it is the first time the company has employed a general manager.
“It will be a challenging task but we are confident that with Mills’ vast experience and ability he will do a good job,” he added.
Mills, who in 2005 retired from Cable and Wireless [now Lime] after serving the company for 22 years, had started his own business but decided to ‘call it a day’ and accepted the offer.
“I opted to change directions and therefore applied for the job and I am very excited that I was chosen,” he said.
Mills disclosed that he intends to work very hard in bringing success to the company in its upward development.
“As of today, I am the General Manager of SKNVibes and I consider it a privilege and honour to be working with this company in such capacity. I welcome the challenge and look forward to working with management and staff to propel SKNVibes upwards in the respective field.”
GM Mills said while he would not disclose all of his immediate plans, his intention is to evaluate the operations of the company before deciding on the implementation of new strategies.
“My plan would be to understand the company and its staff in terms of policies and objectives, while the strategy entails working with the team to advance the company in these very challenging economic times,” he stressed.
The sports enthusiast described himself as an approachable person, who is very friendly and likes meeting people.
