    Basseterre, St. Kitts (July 21, 2006): The Ministry of Tourism, Sports and Culture has been saluted for its role in the success of the July 2, CARICOM 10K Run.

     

    "The CARICOM Secretariat, on behalf the Caribbean Community, wishes to express the sincerest gratitude to you and the staff of the Ministry & for the invaluable assistance given," Assistant Secretary-General of the CARICOM Secretariat Edward Greene wrote in a letter to Permanent Secretary of Sports Lloyd Lazar.
     
    "As we look forward to next year's event in Barbados, the lessons learnt from the second staging will certainly provide the basis on which the 10K Race will develop to become a stellar event on the Region's social calendar," the letter concluded.
     
    The CARICOM 10K Run was organized to commemorate the 27th Summit of CARICOM Heads of Government held in St. Kitts from July 2 to 6. The race attracted participation from over 50 athletes from nine member states.
