Juvenile from Freeman's Village in custody
BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – A 17-year-old of Freeman’s Village is in custody at the Basseterre Police Station assisting officers with their investigations into a wounding incident that occurred in College Street on Thursday, January 13.
Information reaching SKNVibes states that shortly after 11:00 p.m. on Thursday, while seated with a female companion on the steps that lead from College Street to Seaton Street, in the vicinity of Wesley Methodist Chapel, Jimmy Finch of Upper Market Street was chopped on his right hand.
It is alleged that the 17-year-old had inflicted the wound on Finch after he and a group of young men had earlier passed the 16-year-old and his female companion on the steps.
According to a source, on condition of anonymity, “Jimmy was sitting with his girlfriend on the steps and at the same time the lad from Freeman’s Village was passing with some young men and he saw them there. Shortly after that, he returned with a machete in his hand and he was wearing a mask.
“He attacked Jimmy and chopped him on his right hand. Jimmy began to run and the lad gave chase but he was unable to catch up with him. Shortly after the incident, a police patrol vehicle was passing and Jimmy stopped them and told them what happened. The officers put him in the vehicle and took him to the hospital.”
The source also told this media house that Finch had recently returned to St. Kitts after spending some time in neighbouring Antigua.
“Jimmy was living in Antigua for about a year and he recently returned home. Some of the boys say that the girl that was with Jimmy was the lad from Freeman’s Village girlfriend, but since Jimmy came back he took her away from him,” the source added.
Attempts were made by SKNVibes to find out if the juvenile from Freeman’s Village was charged for the offence, but at press time was unable to get any information.
