Police Press Release

    At the Basseterre High Court on 20th July 2006, Travis Duporte of Phillips Village who was convicted of the 20th June 2004 murder of Satora "Shakabee" Williams of Sandown Road was sentenced to death by hanging.

     

     
    At the Basseterre Magistrate Court on 20th July 2006, the charges against Omar Jones of St. Marten and Sylvan Morgan of St. Vincent were heard. Both men were charged with "illegally entering the Federation" and for breaching the customs regulations. They were found not guilty of former charge and were convicted and fined for the later charge of breaching customs regulations. Jones was fined $4,000.00 to be paid forthwith or in default serve six (6) months imprisonment. Morgan was fined $3,000.00 to be paid forthwith or in default serve three (3) months imprisonment. Both men will also be deported after having paid the fines imposed.

     

     

     

     

     

     

     

    On 20th July 2006, officer of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force executed a search warrant on the premises of Dwight James of Mad House Alley, Newtown. A quantity of vegetable material and a cannabis plant was found growing on the said premises and James was subsequently charged with "Possession of a Controlled Drug" and "Cultivation of a Controlled Drug'.

     

     

     

    The officers also found a plastic bag containing approximately two (2) pounds of cannabis outside the fence of the premises searched, however no one has been charged in connection with this find.

     

     

     

     

     

    The following persons were arrested and charged on 20th July 2006;

     

    ·         Dionis Morson of Conaree Village was charged with the offence of "Battery" committed on 20th July 2006.

     

     

     

    ·         Kenrick Thomas of Basseterre was charged with the offence of "Praedial Larceny" committed on 20th July 2006.

     

     

     

    ·         Wycliffe Liburd of Market Street was charged with the offence of "Rape" committed on 10th July 2006.

     

     

     

    ·         Wendell Peets of Basseterre was charged with the offence of "Obtaining Credit by False Pretences" committed on 19th May 2006 when he presented a cheque to obtain goods to the value of $300.00 knowing the said cheque was invalid.

     

     

     

    ·         A fifteen-year-old male juvenile was charged with the offence of "House Breaking and Larceny" committed between 15th and 17th July 2006 at Parray Housing Development.
