Balck San’ Bang A Lang - Festival Logo

SANDY POINT, St.Kitts, January 17, 2011 - The town of Sandy Point is relishing the opportunity of playing host to visitors from around the federation as they attempt to inject a steady dose of fun and frolic into the island’s annual calendar of events via the inaugural staging of Black San Bang A Lang.

This eagerly-anticipated community festival date as far back as the 1970’s and promises to re-emerge as an annual highlight of St. Kitts’ social calendar.

With events spanning the entire month of April and climaxing during the Easter weekend, which this year falls on Friday April 22nd to 25th , Bang A Lang takes place at multiple venues throughout the Sandy Point community and is designed to offer a heightened sense of family fun for all.

Traditional highlights of past festivals will be infused with added twists that guarantee to create overwhelming first impressions such as the Miss Black San swim suit competition, in which contestants will compete in what promises to be jaw dropping segments.

The schedule also features a never before seen game show competition, carnival family atmospheres, live music from local bands, international artistes, spectacular fireworks displays, various street fetes and much more.

New additions to this years programme includes the 3 Rounds Show Down Boxing and Kickboxing event with host country St. Kitts battling against fighters from the neighboring island of St. Maarten, Bang A Lang avenue which will create a heart thumping, feet shaking action avenue where the community can enjoy music, share in laughs, drinks and the splendor of the festival between events.

“This is an opportunity for everyone to celebrate the country's multicultural society through special performances from our locals as well as highlighting traditions of yesteryears” said Miss Judy Dupont- SPIRIT Public Relations Officer.

Black San culminates with a lively and colorful parade through the streets of Sandy Point, which would draw the many patrons to share in savory dishes at the ‘Sun down Cookout’ which gets underway following the parade on Monday April 25th.

The theme for this year's festival has been revealed to be 'A cultural fete at Belle Tête'.
