Basseterre, St. Kitts, January 21, 2011 (SKNIS) - Secondary school students in St. Kitts and Nevis are invited to actively participate in the local implementation of the Information and Communication Technology for Improving Education, Diversification and Competitiveness (ICT4EDC) Project.
Officials at the National ICT Center told SKNIS that the younger generation is deeply immersed in the use of ICT tools in everyday life and so they can draw on this familiarity to develop a unique, creative and catchy slogan that will be adopted by the Project to help achieve its goals to promote ICTs for development.
“ICT is changing the world drastically … and the nature of ICTs has definitely evolved within the last decade,” said Keisha Archibald at the ICT Center. She added that the slogan should inspire residents of St. Kitts and Nevis to make use of the new, emerging Information and Communication Technologies.
The ICT slogan should be in Standard English and limited to 15 words. Each person is allowed one entry only, and the winning selection will be used at functions, on printed materials, in radio jingles, in television advertisements and for other promotional purposes.
A selection of prizes will be awarded to the top three entries. The winner will receive a tablet personal computer, while the first and second runners up will receive a smart phone, and digital camera respectively.
Entries must be submitted before February 12, 2011 and sent via email to info@ict4edc.kn. Additional information is available by contacting Keisha Archibald at the ICT Center at 465-0610.
