Police Press Release

    Officers of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force responded to a report of shots fired on the JNF General Hospital Compound, at approximately 4:00 a.m. on Monday 24th July 2006. There, officers discovered twenty-three (23) year old Venroy "Paulie" Hazel of St. Johnson Village, with multiple gunshot wounds to his body. He was pronounced dead by the District Medical Officer and officers processed the scene. A post mortem will be carried out a later date to determine the cause of death.

     

     

     

    Any person with information relevant to the investigation of the incident should contact the Criminal Investigation Department at 465-2241, extension 236 or 466-8351 and can do so anonymously.

     

     

     

     

     

     

     

    At the Basseterre Magistrate Court on 21st July 2006 Kenrick Thomas of Dorset Village, who was charged with the offence of "Praedial Larceny" committed on 20th July 2006, was convicted and ordered to perform sixteen (16) hours of community service at the Basseterre Police Station from 22nd July to 12th August 2006. In default Thomas would be taken back to the said court for sentencing.

     

     

     

    The following persons were arrested and charged between 21st and 23rd July 2006:

     

     

     

    ·         Dean Boddie of Tabernacle was charged with the offence of "Assault" committed on 17th July 2006.

     

     

     

    ·         Rodney Steinbergin of Station Street, Old Road was charged with the offence of "Indecent Assault" committed on 28th June 2006. He was later bailed at the Magistrate Court in the sum of $10,000.00 to re-appear at the said court on 1st August 2006.

     

     

     

    ·         Kurt Merchant of New Road was charged with the offence of "Assault with Intent to Rob" committed on 21st July 2006.

     

     

     

    ·         Lamoy Marsham of The Alley, Sandy Point was charged with the offence of "Possession of Controlled Drugs" committed on 22nd July 2006.

     

     

     

    ~~Adz:Left~~·         Randolph Hodge of West Bourne was charged with the offence of "Being armed with an offensive weapon" to wit a knife committed on 22nd July 2006.

     

     

     

     The following persons were bailed after having been charged with offences:

     

     

     

    ·         A sixteen (16) year old female juvenile of Conaree Village who was charged with the offence of "Battery" committed on 20th July 2006 was bailed in the sum of $1,000.00 to appear at the Basseterre Magistrate Court on 14th August 2006. Morson was also ordered to keep a 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. curfew at her residence.

     

     

     

    ·         Anthony Francis of Hanley's Road, Nevis who was charged with the offence of "House Breaking and Larceny" was bailed in the sum of $5,000.00 to appear at the Basseterre Magistrate Court on 25th July 2006.
