Stoney Grove swamps Combined Schools

Kester Evans scored two goals for Stoney Grove
By: Curtis Morton, Press Release

CHARLESTOWN Nevis, January 24th 2011 - The action continued in the local league hosted by the Nevis Football Association last evening with the dominant Brand Slybo Stoney Grove Strikers taking full control of their match up versus the Combined Schools team.  The ‘Schools’ team had a definite new look about it, featuring quite a number of senior players who would have played for other teams last year but that did not make any difference as the Stoney Grove men totally dominated the first half  with a score line of five goals to nil.

In the second half, the early exchanges belonged to the School team and it took the herculean efforts of goalkeeper, Leroy ‘Muscle’ Richards to keep the ball out of the goal. He was forced to dive full length on occasions and at other times, time his jump superbly to tip the ball over the cross bar.

Despite the pressure applied, the Stoney Grove men were successful in defending their goal and even added one more goal for emphasis.

The final score line: Six goals to nil in favour of the Stoney Grove Strikers.

    The goal scorers were:

Delvon Clarke in the 7th and sixty-ninth minutes
Kester Evans in the 17th and forty-first minutes
