BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, JULY 25TH 2006 - This year's National Honours Awards will be opened to five categories.
The National Awards Committee said Monday the deadline for the submission of nominations has also been extended.
According to a new release from the Committee, the decision was taken at the July 20th meeting to open the awards to the categories of education, nursing, community affairs, music and public service.
"Persons are therefore encouraged to limit their nominations of individuals for the awards to these specific areas. As result of this decision, it was agreed to extend the deadline for the submission of nominations from July 31 to August 11, 2006," said the release.
The National Honours Committee said nomination forms can be obtained at Government Headquarters, Post Offices, the Evangelical Association, the Christian Council, the Chamber of Industry and Commerce, the Federal Office, Charlestown, Nevis, the Clarence Fitzroy Bryant College, the Olympic Association Office, the Nevis Island Administration, the Overseas Missions and Embassies, the Teachers" Union, the Nurses" Association, the Police Welfare Association, the St. Kitts-Nevis Football Association, the Jaycees and the Rotary Club.

Completed forms in sealed envelopes should be returned to the office of the Chief Secretary, Government Headquarters, Church Street, Basseterre, St. Kitts by August 11th 2006.
