Congratulations are in order for Mr. Carlton Browne who successfully completed the 2010 Practical and Oral Examinations for cricket umpires. Browne was one among the 84% that passed from a field of 45. The candidates hailed from the Caribbean and the Americas namely Bermuda, Barbados, Canada, Guyana, Jamaica, St. Kitts, St. Lucia, Trinidad & Tobago and United States of America. Among them was a female umpire from Barbados - Valerie McMahon.

Browne scored a total of 85 on the finals with a practical mark of 57 and oral of 28 to place him in the mid range of scores which went from 99 to 70.

President of the St. Kitts Umpire Association Mr. Luther Kelly was one of the first to congratulate Browne. In an email dispatched to Browne and his colleagues, Kelly wrote:- “Let me take this opportunity to congratulate Mr. Carlton Browne for completing and passing his final exam, thus making him a fully qualified W.I.C.U.A Umpire. Congrats again Mr. Browne”.  Several of his colleagues soon joined in and offered kudos.

The candidates were all given congratulatory messages and the seven that failed were encouraged to work even harder.

Browne brings the number of qualified umpires from St. Kitts to ten.
