BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – INVESTIGATIONS into the death of the female national of St. Lucia, who was found hanging in one of the bedrooms she shared with her husband in their Camps Village home in Nevis, revealed that there was no foul play.

According to Police Press and Public Relations Officer (PRO) Inspector Vaughan Henderson, “An autopsy was performed on the body of Celsa Jones by Resident Pathologist Dr. Adrian Nunez Quintana between 9:00 and 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 28, 2011, who revealed that the cause of death was asphyxia due to hanging.”

Henderson said that the autopsy’s report, coupled with an intensive investigation by members of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Nevis Division, revealed that there was no foul play in Jones’ hanging death.

At approximately 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday (Jan. 26), the lifeless body of Celsa Lewis-Jones was discovered by her husband hanging from a rope attached to a beam in one of their two-bedroom home.

The 40-year-old seamstress was married to Keith Jones, one of Nevis’ top cyclists, and it was only a few weeks ago they had celebrated their first anniversary - Sunday, January 2.

Jones was described by many as a friendly and courteous individual, who was loved by all members of her community.

She was a member of the Nevis female cricket team and, according to Nevis Cricket Association’s President Ronald Powell, she would be fondly remembered as an exciting hard-hitting batswoman for the St. James’ female cricket team.
