BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE Basseterre High School Class of 2001 is currently preparing to host their ten-year anniversary celebration which is expected to feature a number of entertaining community-based activities.
Some of the students have already met to discuss ideas, including fundraising activities and community service that will run for one week in December.
According to a release from the organising group, which stated that their motto is “Building foundations for the future, to leave a legacy of ‘Principia Non Homines’”, the BHS Class of 2001 would reunite forming a non-profit organisation to provide mentorship, academic and financial assistance to present and future students of that learning institution.
“The reunion of this class brings together a multi-faceted group. Our goal is to use the human capital that we have attained along with the available resources of our community and the local private sector to propel our youths into meeting their maximum potential,” the release read.
It is also the group’s intention to reach out through seminars and other media footage to share its experience, knowledge and professional skills to create a comprehensive environment where pupils with varying interests could share their ambitions and seek opportunities to facilitate themselves.
The group also plans to make monetary contribution to their alma mater.
The first fundraiser will be a Breakfast and Bake Sale and is scheduled to be held at the Bus Terminal at 6:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 5.
The reunion class is also planning to host a party and other fundraising activities as well as community service activities leading up to their reunion week of activities.
Other 2001 graduates of the BHS are asked to attend the activities and meetings. They are also advised that the next scheduled meeting will be held at the Basseterre High School at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 9.
