Two Cable & Wireless customers have joined an elite group in the world who can now boast of owning a limited edition Motorola V3i Dolce & Gabbana gold phone.
The announcement of winners brought to an end a two-week texting promotion which the company ran as part of its association with Music Festival as partner sponsor.
Interrupting its regular programming to accommodate a live "on air" call to the first winner, Sugar City Rock's Juni "Big JL" Liburd, made contact on the very first attempt.
"Good afternoon, this is Junie Liburd from Sugar City Rock is this Tamara Farrell?" And the response was ear-shattering. I guess Sherma may have been monitoring the station because minutes before the call was made an announcement alerted listeners of the draw.
She was a truly ecstatic winner, and by her passionate responses alone, deserved to win. She transcended to an even higher cloud, when the programme host asked the Cable & Wireless representative, Laverne Caines, to provide a value to the cost of the phone. "Are you really serious that this phone costs $3100?" and with that it was more screams.
Prompted by the host as to what she will do with the phone she politely said she would keep it, although she did have another. The next twenty seconds of the interview were used to sing the praises of bmobile, ending with its mantra 'it feels good.'

But there was one more surprise left, because having announced the Nevis winner, there was still a customer in St. Kitts whose heart needed to be put to rest. And so the second phone call was made.
In somewhat of an anticlimax, the call went to voicemail, so the programme host announced that if the holder of the winning phone number was listening he/she should call the station.
It took no additional reminders, as right on cue, the potential winner put a call into the station.
Having done the preliminaries to verify the customer as the correct winner, the second name was announced.
The lucky Sherma Hanley, recalled submitting a few entries, but never thought that she would win.
She too declared her perpetual allegiance to bmobile in response to the question of her favourite mobile provider.
Provided with a photo opportunity to collect their winnings, the customers turned up promptly within days for the presentation.
They had every reason to present their best smiles, as not only did they win the coveted D&G phone, but with it a prepaid UK sim card valued at 10 pounds. Congratulations again to lucky winners Sherma and Tamara!
