ROAD TOWN Tortola, VI - Capital Productions, the local group known for its charitable donations throughout the Virgin Islands (VI) and for its hosting of the official August Festival Car Show and Exhibition, teamed up on Saturday 29th January, 2011 with two corporate giants, Nanny Cay Marina & Hotel and Tola Mitsubishi Motors of Fish Bay, to treat the children from the Rainbow Children’s Home.

Capital Productions organized a fund day at UP’s Cineplex in Road Town, which included an afternoon of bowling for the children, the viewing of the just released children movie ‘Yogi Bear’, and a treat to pizzas, wings and beverages.

Chairman of Capital Productions, Julien N. Johnson said that the idea was to take the children to a different environment to enjoy a family type event.  He added that Capital Productions had taken a special interest in the children from the home as, “we viewed them as part of our extended family, and wanted to continue sharing in their upbringing.”

Bruce Wong, Managing Director of Tola Mitsubishi Motors and Miles Sutherlandpilch General Manager of Nanny Cay said that they were both delighted to team up once again with Capital Productions for this worthy and noble cause, since they both valued their corporate responsibility, and commitment to giving back to the VI.

Deputy Superintendent of the home, Eileen Potter, who also accompanied the group at the event, expressed the view that the children were especially pleased to be away from the home, spending time with the Capital Productions team and doing fun things. She went on to say that one of the children commented that Capital Productions had been doing activities for the home for a number of years and had always paid special attention to them, and they looked forward for more such events.

The home, which was opened in 1997, is the only such home in the VI for neglected and abused children.  The Government sponsored facility provides and takes care of the children at the home.

Other Capital Productions members on hand for the fund day with the children from the Rainbow home were Ingrid A. Moses-Scatliffe, Vice Chairperson, Treasurer David D. Archer and Public Relations Officer, Julian Willock.  The other member David A. Abednego, the group’s Secretary was unavailable for this event.

Every year, for the past 11 years, Capital Productions has donated proceeds from the annual car shows to local charities. To date, the group has donated some ninety thousand dollars ($90,000) to worthy causes around the VI.
