CHARLESTOWN Nevis, February 3rd 2011 - PRO for the Nevis Turf and Jockey Club, Mrs Ursula Huggins-Whitney, yesterday revealed that Horse racing action is set to return to the Indian Castle race track, this coming Sunday—sixth February. This as a part of the activities set for Tourism week 2011.

Mrs Whitney who was interviewed on NTV’s Sports Menu program hosted by Sportscaster Curtis Morton revealed that since the heavy rains late last year, the race track has been in deplorable conditions.  However, quite a bit of work has been done in recent times and the track is about 80% ready with some more work to be completed in the next few days.

It will be a four card race meet with an average of three horses per race.
The gates will be opened at 12 noon but the races are set to commence at 2 pm.
Cover charge is the usual twenty dollars for adults and children from 12 years and upwards, while children under 12 will get in free of cost.

The PRO also revealed that her Association has agreed that they will be seeking to identify Jockeys who will specifically ride at the Indian Castle races hosted by the NTAJC as presently; they can only host a meet when the Jockeys who also ride at the Beaumont Park are available.

Allister Thompson will provide musical entertainment and will also perform the role of announcer.

A five furlong race will start the proceedings in race one and the excitement will peek with old rivalries renewed right up to the final six furlong event.
