King Konris pens motivational song for Verchilds High Blue Blazers

By: Cherisse M. Sutton-Jeffers, SKNVibes

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – VERCHILDS HIGH SCHOOL’S defending champions Blue House Blazers intend to maintain their dominance in athletics this year and had called on the expertise of Konris Maynard to pen them a motivational song.

Maynard responded to the call and penned a song titled ‘Blue Force’, which has the same tune as his ‘Unstoppable Force’ - the song with which he won the 2010/2011 Road March title.

The song was launched on Tuesday morning (Feb. 1) in one of the school’s classrooms during Blue House Blazers’ assembly.

Traditionally, during the second term of the school’s year, all schools in the twin-island Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis would run off their individual athletics competition to choose the best house and also in preparation for the annual Inter-School Championships.

At the inter-house level, ‘heats’ are held to accumulate points prior to the actual meet and this will provide the various houses an opportunity to be victorious even if they do not win or placed in most of the events.

Blue House Blazers have been crowned champions on three occasions and they have their eyes set on making it four. Therefore, in an effort to motivate the athletes, Blue House Blazers have added ‘Blue Force’ to another of their motivational songs called ‘Blue House We are The Champions’, which was penned by the Small Axe Band.

According to Blue House Master Justin Moses, who is also a teacher at the school, the houses at Verchilds High School are very competitive.

“We try to find as much ways as possible to pep up the houses, and being last year overall champions we decided to use King Konris who already has the experience of being a ‘four-peat’ champion.”

Moses said Maynard was also at the house assemble leading the launch, which was also geared towards getting the students eager to participate in giving Blue House a point.

The Verchilds High School Sports Day is slated for March 20, where Blue House will go up against Red and Green.
