Break up in Evolution Sound…two members quit

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE circulation of a BlackBerry message yesterday (Feb. 7), which stated that two members had quitted the Evolution Sound and would be forming their own sound system, was confirmed by this media house.

The two members, Labo Prentice, popularly known as Labusky, and Jamie Williams, told SKNVibes that they had left the group and would be forming their own sound system called Unstoppable Sound.

In response to the reason for them leaving, Prentice said he did not want to give too many details but noted that other members of the group did not treat them good.

“It’s a lot of things behind us leaving. I won’t call them down or anything like that, but people must remember that we should not forget where we came from. And I just want people to know they wont be seeing me no more with Evolution,” said Prentice who had been a member of the group since 2004.

Prentice, who was the ‘Mic Man’ for Evolution Sound, also said that they are moving on and they already have the support of some people.

On the other hand, Williams, who joined the group in 2009 as a ‘Selector’, said he had no comment on the issue but declared that people could expect the launch of Unstoppable Sound very soon.

The announcement of the two men’s departure has placed a damper on a joyous milestone as Evolution Sound recently celebrated their 10th Anniversary with two big parties. The first one was held in Nevis on January 28 and the second one on Saturday (Feb. 5) at Club Kactus.

Although no word was said of their departure prior to the BlackBerry’s text circulation, their absence from the group’s anniversary celebration at Club Kactus indicated that something was amiss.

Speaking briefly on the topic, Yusef ‘Ubal’ Connor, one of Evolution’s senior members, said he was made aware that the two had left the group via a BlackBerry message.

He went on to say that none of them had called and said anything about leaving the group, so they are still members as far as he is concerned.

Connor however stated that he has nothing further to say on the matter at this time.

Evolution Sounds was established in February 2001 by Lindelle ‘Webber’ Williams, Triscan Hensley and Veryn Phillip.
