Elroy 'Stanny' Williams, Junior 'Cue' Sobrati to be also charged

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – A Senior Supervisor of the St. Kitts-Nevis-Anguilla Trading and Development Co. Ltd. (TDC) was last week remanded to Her Majesty’s Prison (HMP) for allegedly collaborating with armed bandits to rob the company’s Sandy Point Branch.

Police Press and Public Relations Officer Inspector Vaughan Henderson today (Feb. 8) told SKNVibes that Leslian ‘Sexman’ Daniel of Sandy Point was on Friday (Feb. 4) arrested, charged and cautioned for aiding and abetting a robbery that occurred at the TDC Sandy Point Branch on Friday, October 29, 2010.

Henderson also informed that warrants in the first instance for aiding and abetting were issued for the arrest of Elroy ‘Stanny’ Williams and Junior ‘Cue’ Sobratie, both of Crab Hill, Sandy Point.

The two men are currently in HMP charged with the armed robbery of 16 tourists in the vicinity of Brimstone Hill Fortress National Park on November 14, 2010. Henderson said they are expected to be charged shortly.

According to well informed sources, Williams and Sobrati are suspected to be the masterminds of the TDC Sandy Point Branch robbery.

Information reaching SKNVibes indicated that shortly after 3:00 p.m. on October 29, 2010, two men - one wearing a ‘hoodie’ and armed with a handgun, and the other with what appeared to be an AK47 - entered the main entrance to the Branch and robbed the business entity of an undisclosed sum of money.

This information was confirmed by an employee, who stated that after committing the crime the two bandits jumped over the perimeter fence of the compound that houses the business entity.

The employee also stated that the police in Sandy Point were notified and, on arrival at the scene, gave chase after the thieves but they however managed to escape.

That had been the second time in 11 days that bandits had targeted the TDC Branch.

On Monday, October 18, Daniel told SKNVibes that the building was last secured on Saturday (Oct. 16) at about 12:30 in the afternoon with all things being in order.

He further explained that when the staff returned to work shortly after 7:20 a.m. the following Monday, they discovered papers were strewn about and a vault that was left standing in an upright position was found on its back.

Daniel said that whoever the perpetrator(s) were, it appeared that they tried to open the vault but were unsuccessful in their attempt. He however informed that the thieves made off with a number of small items from the entity.
