BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – COMING out of a recent meeting among Nevis’ Premier Hon. Joseph Parry, his Deputy Hon. Hensley Daniel and Delta Petroleum Limited’s Regional General Manager Bevis Sylvester, citizens and residents of Nevis are soon to benefit from an enhanced service and expansion of the petroleum company.

Speaking with SKNVibes Business, Sylvester said he is pleased with the discussions and the progress that his company has been able to make with the Nevis Island Administration (NIA). He disclosed that Delta has always had a good relationship with the NIA but stressed that the current one is much stronger.

“The NIA has been moving ahead with holistic development and expansion of the island and we as a company want to help in playing a pivotal role in all of this,” he said.

Sylvester said that in addition to his company’s planned expansion on both islands later in the year, discussions with the NIA were also held on a number of critically important issues.

“I am pleased with how discussions have gone thus far with the NIA, and I am very confident that a number of issues that needed to be resolved are resolved, so that we can move ahead with our planned expansion. The public is aware of the enormous projects and initiatives that we have already been implementing within the communities, and as the Regional General Manager, we’re committed to working together with the government of Nevis in helping to develop and enhance the communities that we operate in,” he said.

Sylvester noted that the relationship between his company and the NIA continues to strengthen, adding that he is very pleased with the response of the government and people of Nevis.

“Delta Petroleum and the people of Nevis continue to enjoy a good relationship, and I am very thankful and grateful for the support that we have been getting here.”

Meanwhile, a source close to the NIA said they are also pleased with the manner in which the meeting went. The source said that the NIA is satisfied with the way in which Delta Petroleum has been conducting its business, stressing that they hope this trend would continue.

“Delta Petroleum needs to be commended for what they have been doing, and I am confident that the NIA is pleased with the company’s track record,” the source said.

The source added that it would be “nice to see other corporate companies emulating Delta Petroleum in terms of giving back to the community”, while seeking to forge a stronger and better relationship.

“There are a number of companies that makes meaningful contributions to the development of Nevis economically, financially and socially, and I believe that it would be nice to see more coming on board doing what Delta Petroleum and other companies do,” the source said.
