Digicel committed to bigger promotions says Marketing Manager

Digicel’s Marketing Manager Marsha Lindo

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – TELECOMMUNICATIONS service provider Digicel has declared that it would continue to execute a number of high profile promotions so as to continue the trend of giving back significantly to its customers.

This was the revelation made by the company’s Marketing Manager Marsha Lindo in an exclusive interview with SKNVibes Business.

Lindo, who recently assumed the post of Marketing Manager for the St. Kitts and Nevis offices, said the company remains committed and dedicated in ensuring customers could continue to experience the level and standard of promotions that they are used to, despite the current global economic challenges.

She said in recognising the challenges and difficulties being experienced, Digicel has sought to maintain rewarding its customers with high profile promotions in an effort to reaffirm the company’s commitment of giving back.

Lindo said the Christmas 2010 promotion was overwhelmingly supported and this week has also resulted in massive support to the various promotions.

“When we had landed that promotion on November 19, 2010, we had no idea that it would have been this fantastic as we recognised that customers were topping up frequently. Digicel believes in giving back to the communities as we provide promotions to all levels of society…even to the grass root level,” she said.

The Marketing Manager declared that her company has no intention of scaling down their promotions.

“I don’t think that in these years Digicel would scale back, as we begin to move ahead aggressively. We are aware that promotions are expensive and we know that branding is expensive. We also recognise that our customers are feeling the pinch of the financial burden of the economic crisis and so this is the time that we tend to invest even more, because with  salary freezes, reductions and so many challenging times, we strongly believe that this is the time that Digicel should step up to the plate and let customers know that it is not the end of the world and we are a company that is there to support them in these times,” she said.

Lindo expressed confidence in Digicel’s market shares, which she said had seen rapid growth in spite of the company only being five years old. She credited this success to the company’s attractive promotions and also its reliability in providing excellent service to customers.

“The other factor is that we listen to our customers. We see the needs of our customers and tailor the promotions for them. You see, if we have a summer promotion we would target the school students and therefore we would have phones on offer at a very low price as we want to capitalise on students who are returning to school. As such, children can get lower-end type phones. We ensure that the promotions are properly tailored so as to ensure that we listen always to what our customers have to say,” she stressed.

The Marketing boss declared that her company is very proud of its achievements over the past five years, noting that the evidence of their promotions and contributions to community and other related projects and programmes indicate that they are here for the long haul.

She reiterated that as the company grows so would their support, adding that Digicel has no intention of leaving but rather to expand.

“We have been here for the past five years and I can safely say that we have all intentions of remaining here in St. Kitts and Nevis, as we continue to strengthen the great relationship between the people of the Federation and this company,” Lindo said.
