, St. Kitts, August 1st, 2006- Ironic it may seem, but it can be taken as an indication of what is to come.

The winning author of the Tourism Week 2006 slogan competition is the UNESCO Youth Path group.

Ironic  because the group has been instituted, to involve youth in sustainable community tourism and in the preservation of heritage sites.

It is their efforts that will help to create additional historical sites for all to enjoy but additionally, it is the involvement of youths in the industry that, amongst others, is crucial for its sustainability.

Minister of State in the Ministry of Tourism, Sports & Culture, Hon. R. Skerritt, felt it best to ask the public to devise the slogan.

After receiving well over 50 entries it was decided that the slogan: "Preserving our natural and cultural treasures: key to sustainability," was the most appropriate slogan for the industry to reflect on for Tourism Week 2006.

In congratulating the group, Permanent Secretary, in the Ministry of Tourism, Sports & Culture, Mr Lloyd Lazar said, ' It is your involvement in the sector that we need and it therefore pleases me to see that you have participated in the slogan competition and I expect to hear more about all of your efforts as UNESCO Youth Path."

Mutryce Williams, Project Coordinator for the UNESCO Youth Path said, " I can see that the youths are very proud of themselves and its good to know that their opinions were considered highly."
