CHARLESTOWN Nevis, February 16th 2011 - The Highlights Cricket team, sent a strong note of warning to all teams participating in the local Bonzo 10/10 league when they emphatically took care of an under strength and otherwise lacklustre For Seasons team.

It was the opening match of the 2011 Bonzo 10/10 league, held at the Ramsbury grounds and the last year champions engaged former champions, The Four Season Resort. who surprisingly showed up with just seven players.

The Highlights team won the toss and sent the opposition into bat.

After a few wild deliveries from Ian Byron, he eventually came off his short run and knocked back the middle stump of Brookes with a superb yorker for a golden duck.

Thereafter, an obviously out of form Sherwin Woodley, struggled to get the ball in the middle of the bat.

It took last man in, Sam ‘Sambo’ Bartlette to put some momentum into the innings. One particular whip off the hip for a boundary was a real gem and maybe even harboured memories of Carl Hooper. ‘Sambo’ immediately went down to tap the pitch.

In the end, the Four Seasons seven man team managed sixty-eight from their allotted 10 overs.

The Highlights team commenced their response as if they had a plane to catch to get back to St.James’.  Duan Philip led the way initially and he literally bullied the bowling.  Two sixes, one off Lester ‘Chinwang’ Liburd and the other off the bowling of Ronald Powell, were exceptional stand outs.

By the time Carlon Smithen got into gear, they needed just four overs to complete the demolition job.

Summarized scores: Four Seasons sixty-eight for five from 10 overs. Sam Bartlette 19 not out and Sherwin Woodley 10.  Nigel Browne got 2 wickets, while Wallace, Sutton and Byron all got one wicket each.

Highlights sixty- nine for no loss: Duan Phillip 31 not out and Carlon Smithen 29 not out
The second scheduled game of the evening was not played as the Combined School team failed to show for their encounter versus a powerful Empire line up.

    Matches for today:

Pennyless All stars v SDA Jets at four –thirty pm and Brown Hill versus Big Rock in the second game.

Thursday 17th in the lone encounter it will be Jessups versus South Warriors.
