BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – A little kindness goes a long way and for a local tour operator that has been operating for over ten years, it has certainly helped his business to grow.
Kenny Richardson a police officer who also operates a tour business called ‘Captain Sunshine’ said that he met Bryan and Hilga Lescrinier in St. Kitts, in 2007 while they were vacationing at the St. Kitts Marriott Hotel.
“I met them at a beach and offered them a tour and they accepted, and enjoyed the experience. I was known as Smiling Kenny then, and Bryan gave me the name Captain Sunshine after, and I have become very popular on the internet, which has helped my business to grow,” Richardson said.
“When people hear of Captain Sunshine, it brings joy and excitement,” the tour operator said.
The couple that hails from New Jersey, said that while visiting Antigua recently they had to come over for the day to St. Kitts on (February 11) to visit with Richardson.
“We like when we go away to islands we like to meet with locals and get to know how they’re living, when we met him on the beach and took the tour, he was very knowledgeable and told us a lot, it’s a beautiful island, and he told us a lot about it,” he said.
“We went to Ottley’s Plantation, went to his village and met his family, and it was great for us to do that and have someone so knowledgeable tell us about where they’re from, we did swimming and swung on the vines and went to Brimstone Hill,” Bryan said.
He said that they stayed in St. Kitts for 10 days.
Bryan said that they enjoyed the hospitality Richardson showed so much that they told him if ever he was in the United States he should give them a call.
“He went to New York for vacation and he called, and I drove up and brought him back to our house for a bit and showed him how we live,” Bryan said.
