BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – DWIGHT PEETS is currently on trial for indecently assaulting a boy under the age of 12 in Sandy Point.
The incident is said to have occurred on May 25, 2008 and the prosecution team, which is being led by Director of Public Prosecution Paulina Hendrickson, is expected to call five witnesses to take the stand.
The accused is being represented by Barrister-At-Law Anthony Johnson and SKNVibes has learnt that they will also be calling on a number of witnesses to testify.
A total of four indecent assault cases, including that of Peets, were scheduled to be tried at the January 2011 Criminal Assizes. However, so far two of those cases have been disposed.
Sheldon Augustus was found not guilty of indecent assault of a 10-year-old girl on February 16. The incident was said to have occurred in Molineux on March 7, 2010.
James Hodge also faces an indecent assault charge. At his arraignment, he pleaded not guilty to indecently assaulting a female in Phillip’s Village on October 2009. This case is yet to be tried.
And Sheldon Maloney, who originally pleaded not guilty to indecently assaulting a female in Cayon on July 31, 2009, changed his plea to insanity while his case was being tried.
He will be evaluated by a Psychiatrist to determine his mental state for trial and the findings of Dr. Sharon Halliday’s report will be presented in court at the end of February.
