St. Kitts and Nevis and the Caribbean Community wish Cuban President, His Excellency Dr. Fidel Castro, who is recovering from surgery will soon return "to instill in Cubans and non-Cubans alike, a spirit of sincerity, generosity and goodwill."
"I know the travails of an operation having had to undergo surgical intervention myself, and thus, I can empathize with you at this challenging and undoubtedly painful time," said Prime Minister and Chairman of CARICOM, the Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas.
"We join with well-wishers and friends the world over, anticipating a successful operation and a soon return to do what you do so well: instilling in others, Cubans and non-Cubans alike, a spirit of sincerity, generosity and goodwill, and which people worldwide have come to experience and appreciate," said Dr. Douglas in a message to the Cuban leader.
"Please accept our heartfelt sorrow for your suffering and know with confidence that we shall uphold you in our prayers," said Prime Minister Douglas.
In a separate message to Castro's brother, Raúl, who is performing the duties of the President, Prime Minister Douglas noted that the "amity between the Governments and peoples of the region and your country spans decades, further strengthened in recent years primarily through the efforts of President Fidel Castro himself, offering assistance in Education and Health in particular, to nationals of St Kitts and Nevis and of the Caribbean Community."
Dr. Douglas added that the "initiatives to enhance cooperation to foster mutual understanding of our cultures will forever be valued and appreciated."
~~Adz:Right~~"In extending best wishes for your brother's good health, we extend a warm hand of welcome to you as you take the reins of leadership of your country and people.
