DIGICEL Press Release

BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS (February 2nd, 2011) – On Tuesday 1st  February 2011, Digicel, The Bigger, Better Network handed over 11 Nokia handsets to the District “B” senior officers of The Royal St. Christopher-Nevis Police Force. Accepting on behalf of the officers was Inspector Lyndon David, who was very grateful for this continued relationship with Digicel.

Inspector Lyndon David opined that this partnership between Digicel and The Royal St. Christopher-Nevis Police Force has been a fruitful one and has helped to ease the communication barriers within the Force. David believed that the new addition of the Nokia phones will further enhance communication between the senior officers in District “B”, who man the Tabernacle, Dieppe Bay, St. Pauls and Sandy Point police stations.

The first of such donations was in March of 2009 when Digicel presented twenty-eight (28) Samsung mobile phones to the Police Force. These handsets are currently being used to aid in the communication between all the Police Stations on St. Kitts and Nevis, as well as to the Anti-gang unit, so that its members can communicate with each other free of charge. The Digicel handsets which were presented will be used by the senior officers in District “B” to communicate within the Force, as they work assiduously to protect and serve the people of the federation.

According to Marketing Manager for Digicel – St. Kitts and Nevis, Marsha Lindo, “Digicel is not only committed to providing exceptional products and services to the people of St. Kitts and Nevis, but also to support the communities which we serve.” The police officers have been assigned to a free Closed User Group, allowing them communicate for free with each other.

The handing over of the phones was witnessed by Digicel’s Corporate Sales Manager, Jacinth Welsh and Marketing Executive, Jeanille Osborne.
