CHARLESTOWN Nevis, February 24th 2011 - This evening at 6pm at the Ramsbury grounds, the much anticipated finals in the Bozo 10/10 cricket league will be played. The two top teams in the tournament in defending champions Highlights Int and former champions Empire will face off in what is expected to be a ‘ring-dinger’.
A huge crowd is expected to witness the encounter and the presentation of trophies and other awards will be made immediately after the encounter.
President of the Nevis Cricket Association, Ronald Powell has also indicated that one of the highlights for the evening will be a presentation to the individual in whose honour the tournament is named—“Bonzo’ the former well known groundsman.
Tale of the tape
For the Highlights team: Look out for Captain Dennison Browne. He hit the ball really well in his last game versus the Jets. At the top of the order the two power hitters in Carlon Smithen and Duan Phillip would be looking to get the innings off in a hurry. Wendell Wallace can also be devastating in the closing overs.
For Empire: Fast bowlers Adelvin Phillip and Nelson Boland will be hoping to make life uncomfortable for all of the batsmen with their fire power, while off spinner Andrew Herbert will be a handful.
The Empire batting will be depending heavily on a good start from Junior Mills with a lot depending on the experienced Joel Simmonds and Andrew Herbert to propel the innings in the latter overs.
The Highlights bowling will be depending on a good start by Ian Byron, the Nevisian speedster, along with the wily Wendell Wallace. Captain Dennison Browne with his medium paced variations could also be a handful.
At the end of the evening, there will only be one winner. Who will it be? Your guess is as good as mine.
