CHARLESTOWN Nevis, February 25th 2011 - Monday 28th February will see the first official sports day for the athletic term in Nevis. That is when the Maude Smith Pre School will be hosting their annual sports meet which will include the innovation of Drag racing for the very first time. However, Inter Primary champions, the Joycelyn Liburd Primary School got things started yesterday with an unofficial meet held at the Hard times play field in Gingerland.
According to Teacher Ms Trecia Williams, the meet was the first of its kind and was coordinated by the very active student’s council at the school. The entire meet was dedicated to feature those students who did not qualify to compete in the JLP’s annual sports meet, set for March 10th. Those participating were referred to as the ‘non-athletes in the school. However, they engaged in a series of fun races which had the fair sized crowd jumping and cheering for every race.
