ST.JOHN'S Antigua, March 1st 2011 – The West Indies Cricket Board has received confirmation from the International Cricket Council that the Technical Committee has approved the WICB application for Devendra Bishoo to replace the injured Dwayne Bravo in the West Indies World Cup squad.

Bishoo will join the West Indies squad in Dhaka, Bangladesh and is expected to arrive on Wednesday.

The Windies next face Bangladesh on Friday 4th March.

Bishoo was the Player of the Tournament of Caribbean Twenty20 2010 and took another 6 wickets in subsequent edition of the tournament in January last.

The aggressive leggie also took 10 wickets in the WICB Regional 50 Over Tournament last October.

In the on-giong WICB Regional 4 Day Tournament Bishoo, whose rich vein of form continues, has collected 14 wickets.

Bishoo has appeared in 20 First Class matches, ten 50 over matches and 13 T20s and played for the West Indies A team v Pakistan A in 2010.

The 25 year old Bishoo is the third replacement player to join the Windies squad as a result of injury. Previously Kirk Edwards and Devon Thomas replaced Adrian Barath and Carlton Baugh Jr.

Bravo, the side’s leading all rounder and talisman for the last four years, suffered a major injury to his left knee during the defeat against South Africa last Thursday night. He has been ruled out of the tournament and is expected to be out of the game for a minimum of four weeks.
