BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – A native of Santo Domingo who resides in Newtown had his wrist chopped off on Sunday night (Feb. 27) when he attempted to part a fight at Mi Sitio Spanish Bar in Pond Road, Newtown.
According to Police Press and Public Relations Officer Inspector Vaughan Henderson, officers of the Basseterre Police Station on Sunday received a report from an anonymous caller concerning an altercation that occurred at approximately 9:25 p.m.
“Police visited an area at Pond Road in the vicinity of the Spanish Bar and made enquiries but was unable to get any useful information. Officers then visited the JNF Hospital and interviewed a Jesus Skelton who was nursing a serious wound to his left wrist. Skelton reported that his wrist was chopped by a man during an altercation,” Henderson said.
He also said that Skelton underwent surgery and is currently warded at the JNF Hospital in serious but stable condition.
This publication however learned that Skelton was imbibing with another man from the Dominican Republic at the Spanish Bar when a fight broke out.
Reports stated that he went to part the fight but an irate man, also a native of Santo Domingo, chopped off his left wrist with a machete.
Inspector Henderson noted that one individual is in custody assisting police with their investigations and they are in search of a number of other persons of interest in this matter.
