Interschool Cheerleading Competition set for March 25

By: Cherisse M. Sutton-Jeffers, SKNVibes

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE Interschool Cheerleading Competition is set for Friday (Mar. 25) at the Silver Jubilee Stadium and will see four high schools in the Federation going up against the two-time consecutive winner Washington Archibald High School.

The event will be held from 7:00 p.m. on the first of the three-day Inter-High School Track and Field Championships, which was won last year by the Charles E. Mills Secondary School, formerly Sandy Point High.

The three schools that will battle against the Washington Archibald High School for their title are Basseterre High, Verchilds High and the Charles E. Mills Secondary Schools.

According to Organising Committee member Iston Williams, the other schools decided not to participate in this year’s competition because they do not think they had enough time to fully prepare their cheerleading teams.

He said the competition is sponsored by Western Union and Aqua Vita.

Williams said the winners would take home a trophy, bragging rights for one year and also a cash prize. He added that cash prizes would also be awarded to the First and Second Runners-up.

The annual Inter-High School Track and Field Championships will take place from March 25 to 27.
