TAIPEI, TAIWAN, MARCH 10TH 2011 (CUOPM) – St. Kitts and Nevis’ Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas has been conferred “The Order of Propitious Clouds with Special Grand Cordon” by the President of the Republic of China on Taiwan, His Excellency MaYing-jeou.
“Hon. Dr. Denzil Llewellyn Douglas, Prime Minister of the Federation of St. Christopher and Nevis is an outstanding statesman of profound erudition and vision, who has devoted himself to promoting cordial relations and close cooperation between St. Christopher and Nevis and the Republic of China on Taiwan and for his outstanding achievements,” said the Citation read at the Conferment Ceremony at the Office of the President in Taipei on Thursday morning.
President Ma said Prime Minister Douglas’ remarkable contributions have earned him the deep appreciation of the Government and People of the Republic of China on Taiwan and in recognition of the outstanding achievements he was awarded the “The Order of Propitious Clouds with Special Grand Cordon.”
The Ceremony was witnessed by members of the Prime Minister’s delegation including Minister of Public Works, Utilities and Energy, the Hon. Dr. Earl Asim Martin, Chief Secretary, Mr. Joseph Edmeade, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Sustainable Development, Mrs. Hillary Hazel; St. Kitts and Nevis Resident Ambassador in Taipei, Her Excellency Jasmine E. Huggins; Accountant General Mr. Levi Bradshaw; Press Secretary to the Prime Minister, Mr. Erasmus Williams and Information Officer, Mr. Charles Jong.
Also present were Taiwan’s Resident Ambassador in St. Kitts and Nevis, His Excellency Miguel Li-jey Tsao and top Taiwan officials.
