8,000 cruise passengers visit St. Kitts Tuesday, 23,000 expected for the week

    BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, MARCH 15TH 2011 (CUOPM) – Some 8,591 sun and fun seeking cruise passengers visited St. Kitts Wednesday on four ships, bringing the total so far for the week to 11,725. With eight more ships scheduled for the rest of the week, the total number expected for the week is 23,000.
     

     

    The 2,850-passenger Celebrity Equinox with 2,894 passengers and 1,245 crew on board arrived from St. Thomas. The 3,100-passenger Ventura arrived from Antigua on its way to Spain with 3,077 passengers and 1,245 crew. The 2,501-passenger Serenade of the Seas arrived from St. Maarten with 2,328 passengers and a crew of 833 and the 292-passengers Wind Surf arrived from Barbados with 292 passengers and a crew of 194. The Equinox and the Ventura docked at Port Zante, the Serenade of the Seas at the Deep Water Port and the Wind Surf anchored off shore.

     

     
    Sunday, the 3,597-passenger Azura, arrived from Tortola with 3,134 passengers and 1,200 crew.

     

     
    Most of the passengers came ashore and went sight-seeing via the Scenic Railway, taxis and tour buses; sun and sea bathing, sailing, zip-lining, snorkeling, horseback riding, hiking and shopping.
     

     

    Eight more ships are scheduled to visit St. Kitts between Wednesday and Saturday. The 2,850-passenger Celebrity Eclipse and the 694 passenger Azamara Journey dock on Wednesday;  the 2,224-passenger Norwegian Dawn and the 170-passenger Star Clipper on Thursday; the 1,664-passenger Thomson Destiny, the 3,050-passenger Carnival Victory and the 296-passenger Silver Cloud on Friday and the 228-passenger Royal Clipper on Saturday.

     

     
    Nine ships are scheduled for next week and 15 the following week.
